Wenning’s Wedding Tip Wednesday

When it comes to planning your bridal shower theme, most times the duties are left to the Maid of Honor. But let’s face it, the bride usually has her say as well. There are so many ideas to make your bridal shower true to you. We hope some of these concepts help you think outside of the box.

Trendy Ideas

In our last blog, we suggested including a scavenger hunt with your save the date notice. Your guests will be able to take a photo and start the fun of the scavenger hunt before actually arriving to the bridal shower. Why not continue this idea at your bridal shower? Make a fun list of tasks for your guests to engage in while at your shower and include ways for them to continue to post their selfies on social media using the #hashtag you created.

For the bride that has a fun group of loved ones why not have a themed bridal shower that makes your guests participate by dressing according to the era. Have your guests dress as flappers from the 1920s or in their bell-bottoms and platform shoes from the 1970s. Who said it has to be Halloween to have fun dressing up?!

Jack & Jill Ideas

Some couples could care less about sticking to traditions, so the Jack & Jill shower is perfect for them! When planning a couples shower you want to be sure to have activities available for both the men and women since your guest list will be anyone close to the couple. Ideas for this wedding shower can be anything from a simple backyard pot luck barbecue to cooking or bartending classes. Keep in mind, you can include games or not; gauge that based on the guests. Some popular co-ed games are Wedding Jeopardy, The Couples’ Roast (have friends try to imitate how the couple would react in certain scenarios) and of course The Newlywed Game.

One thing you always want to be sure of is to plan for more guests for the Jack & Jill showers since you have both guests of honors in attendance. Try leaving the couple with a useful keepsake from their shower such as a date night jar. Have guests write ideas for date night outings on popsicle sticks and place in a mason jar. Sometimes, the simplest ideas can go a long way!

Contemporary Ideas

Have you ever thought about having a wine tasting as your bridal shower? You can choose to focus on wines from the year the couple started dating or wines from wherever the couple is going on their honeymoon. Just be sure to take into consideration any members of the bridal party that may be underage when planning this shower. You also want to be sure that you have planned designated drivers or another form of transportation to and from the winery.

We hope these Wednesday Wedding Tips help you with planning the ultimate bridal shower. Enjoy!
