Wenning's Wedding Tip Wednesday
If you’re shopping for vendors for your future wedding, you’re going to want to listen in…
All month long we’re talking about vendor red flags to watch out for when planning your wedding or event! Wherever you go, there are good eggs and bad eggs. More than likely, this is your first wedding and you’ve never had to deal with event vendors before. That means it’s vitally important for you to do your research to determine what makes a good vendor, or you’ll be left with that bad egg! This week’s tip is all about poor communication.
Feeling ghosted?
You deserve to have your questions answered promptly, so if you’re getting ignored or you’re stuck playing phone tag, GET OUT OF THERE. You’ve got to keep in mind that it’s probably not going to get any easier. Also, they are trying to get your money at this point. If they’re not acting on their best behavior now, what makes you think the communication would get better after they get your money? Lack-luster communication is a big sign that you are not as high priority to them as you should be.
Are you getting the run-around?
Even if they do answer the phone, are they answering your questions clearly and with transparently? Are they giving you the runaround? Are they ignoring your concerns and going off on a tangent? Don’t be led off in to their standard sales pitch. Keep your questions listed in front of you and take extensive notes. If they’re not being completely transparent and leaving the ball in your court, it’s possible they have something to hide.
Where’s the follow-up?
After your phone conversation, are they following up with you? You might think they are being annoying, but believe it or not, this is a GOOD SIGN! It means they listened to you and they are taking the time to make sure you’re taken care of. They want your money and they are working hard to get it! Your name is high on their list and they want to do what they can to earn your business. Give each vendor the respect they deserve and keep them updated on your selections and your timeline.
Keep these vendor red flags in mind when you’re planning your wedding, and you won’t have any problems down the road.
