Wenning’s Wedding Tip Wednesday

Being the most well dressed man in the room won’t be hard when you’re the groom. With so many trendy ideas for both formal and less formal weddings, choices are nearly endless!

Style

“The current trend governing men’s formal wear right now is a strong desire for non-black tuxedos.” Says Brad Fabian, Owner of Top Hat Tuxedo at the Waterworks Mall. The colors charcoal, heather gray, light gray, navy blue and tan are especially big for anyone thinking of going the non-traditional route. If you are looking for that timeless, classic look for a formal wedding Brad says, ” keep in mind that black tuxedos are always appropriate and in demand.” Another strong trend toward less formal weddings has the entire wedding party wearing suits in the same shades. Some weddings are opting for vests or even suspenders without coats at all. Since most of the formal wear is made in premium wool fabrics, ditching the jacket can hopefully help the guys beat the heat!

Timeline

When preparing to enter the formal wear process Brad suggests that the Bride and Groom consider starting at least 3-6 months before the wedding. During this time you will have your groomsmen measured. Then you will need time to choose all of your appropriate styles. From there, you still have to schedule time to do a try-on fitting of the suit. Brad also shared that since “most of the formal wear on the market now is made by top designers, groomsmen can expect to pay at least $200 for a complete rental with shoes, insurance and tax.” Most tuxedo rentals offer the grooms outfit free with a minimum number of tuxedos rented.
