Wenning's Wedding Tip Wednesday
Heard to believe a new decade is only a few months away at this point. What should we look to see in Weddings as we move into the new decade? This month we will be talking about several different trends that will be occurring for 2020 and beyond. This week we will be talking about sustainable and ecofriendly weddings.
Don’t be surprised if you attend a lot of sustainable or eco-friendly weddings in the new decade. That means getting rid of a lot of plastic and things that are not biodegradable. This could be a whole variety of different things starting with the invitations. Couples may decide to send old school wedding invitations, but for save the dates, paperless is becoming more popular.
When it comes to food, people are starting to turn towards local farms for healthier foods. It has become more accessible than ever and but keep in mind that organic food may cost you more. Locally grown products will help ensure there are no preservatives in the food and also guarantee that it’s the freshest it can be. Turning to the neighborhood baker is also a great idea if you’re looking to save some money with desserts. Why spend hundreds of dollars on a professional bakery when you can get assistance from friends and family?
Sourcing things that are more locally grown such as flowers or decorations will become more popular as well. Ordering flowers can become rather expensive, but brides are turning towards smaller florists that are known in the community. Some brides will even grow their own gardens ahead of time or have friends and family help them. This is a great way to use the local resources and reduce a big carbon footprint affecting the world.
Ultimately, brides and grooms are looking for better ways to impact the climate. Using local farms, florists and food vendors are great ways that can help preserve the earth. Expect to see a lot of weddings like this in the future to come as people are starting to realize the true impact the Earth is going through right now. In the years to come, keep an eye out and you will see more weddings that are going with the eco-friendly approach.
